Mount Kilimanjaro which is an extinct mountain is Africa's highest free standing mountain at point Uhuru (5895m). The mountain is a shared resource to the countries of Kenya and Tanzania and main source of water to Amboseli National Park during the dry season resulting from melting glaciers that flow down to Amboseli. Other peaks are Kibo (5896m), Mwenzi (5,149) and Shira (3,962m)
Shira Route (07 nights)
Duration: 08 days / 07 nights (06 days on trek)
This route starts an altitude of 11600ft (3500m) and should only be attempted by trekkers who are already acclimatized or know from previous experience that they can tolerate altitude. From the trailhead the trail heads east across the centre of the Shira Plateau, where it is often likely to spot big game, such as elephant and buffalo. The route then joins up with the Machame Route at Shira Camp and approaches the summit via Stella Point descending via Mweka Camp.

Rongai Route (06 nights)
Duration: 07 days / 06 nights (05 days on trek)
Rongai route is the easiest and gaining popularity with the climb starting from the north side of the mountain at Rongai a small village close to the Kenya border. The northern side is drier and affording spectacular sweeping views over the expanse Maasailands. Accommodation is in temporary camping tents.
Please note that the summit is accessed via the east side of Kibo before descending via Marangu route.

Machame Route (06 nights)
Duration: 08 days / 07 nights (06 days on trek)
Highlights: Shira Plateau, Barranco wall and the Karanga Valley reaching the summit via Stella Point.
Machame route is a day longer to Marangu route allowing for a natural climb and acclimatization hence a good chance of accessing the summit. The route is more demanding, much quieter and scenic route up the mountain. Accommodation is in temporary camping tents which are carried along by the accompanying porters. The route equally requires that trekkers be physically fit.

Marangu Route (06 nights)
Duration: 07 days / 06 nights (05 days on trek)
Marangu route is commonly known as the 'Coca-Cola' route, because it is the most popular route up the mountain with well defined path with most obstacles modified to make it a friendlier route for climbers. Accommodation on this route is in purpose built mountain huts providing adequate shelter. It is scenic route with good views of Mawenzi peak.
